Michael recently retired after a 35-year career in financial services to allow him to devote more time to his family and causes he cares about. Having grown up in Buckinghamshire, he moved to the West Country with his wife and has lived in Cepen Park in Chippenham since 2001. Michael is married with two (now adult) children who both went to local schools.
He has been a campaigner for Chippenham Conservatives for nearly a decade and can be seen delivering leaflets and canvassing in Cepen Park. He supported Rt Hon Michelle Donelan’s campaigns as our local MP as well as that of Nic Puntis as local Councillor and Chippenham’s prospective MP in the 2024 General Election. Michael has also volunteered for local charities and community groups over the years.
Michael retains a keen interest in personal finance as well as criminal justice, having been proposed as Magistrate in 2023 (a role he sadly wasn’t able to take up for several reasons). Also, having spent 30 years commuting to London by train, public transport is a topic that he will speak freely on.
In his free time, he loves to walk in Wiltshire’s glorious countryside with his Labrador Charlie and can talk endlessly about Formula 1!
Michael was adopted as Chippenham Conservative’s candidate for Wiltshire Council and Chippenham Town Council for the May 2025 local elections for Cepen Park and Hunters Moon. He will be actively speaking to local residents in these areas to understand what their priorities are. In any event, he is keen to ensure that local areas remain safe and free from crime and anti-social behaviour, that our roads are well-maintained and simple matters like street signs are unobstructed, clear and replaced when necessary. Chippenham is continuing to expand and Michael wants to work with local stakeholders to ensure that this brings benefits for the local community and that matters such as flooding are minimised.
If you have any other issues that you would like to bring to Michael’s attention, please do get in touch.
