The Chippenham Conservative Association was established in January 2007, following a merger of areas from three previous Conservative Associations, each of which had its own Conservative Member of Parliament. These associations included Devizes, North Wiltshire, and what is now South West Wiltshire.
The Chippenham constituency name was reintroduced in time for the 2010 General Election, representing a new area covering Bradford on Avon, Chippenham, Corsham, and Melksham.
On 28th June 2023, the Independent Boundary Commission for England concluded its review of Parliamentary Constituencies, and its final recommendations were fully accepted by Parliament. As a result, from 4th July 2024, the Chippenham constituency has been expanded to encompass Chippenham, Corsham, Calne, Lyneham, Royal Wootton Bassett, and their surrounding villages. Retaining its historic name, the constituency now centres around Chippenham, where the majority of its population resides.
