I moved to Wiltshire in the early 80s and immediately got stuck into village life, quickly understanding that in order for a village to thrive we all need to play an active part.
Having volunteered for most committees and run the village fair, I was asked to stand for North Wilts District Council in 1999, managing to get elected with the top vote and have represented this area ever since.
My background is in IT, and the skills there are very much what is needed to be a councillor. I enjoy working with residents to help them improve their environment and address their problems. For most of my life I have volunteered with organisations helping older people and am passionate about keeping ourselves healthy to improve our quality of life and reduce our burden on society. To that end I re-trained to teach Keep Fit to older people, which I love.
I am married to Steve, who is also a Councillor. In our time we have fostered over 40 children and would recommend fostering to any body with or without children – it is a life changing experience for them and for you.
In my spare time I enjoy walking our 2 dogs, I am an active member of the local bellringing band, 2 choirs and a Rotarian.
