Across the nation today, we came together to remember those who serve our country and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, with our elected representatives attending those held in their local communities.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
Nic Puntis attended the remembrance service in Chippenham today, after the event he said:
"I was humbled by the sheer number of people who lined the High Street and gathered around the War Memorial, despite the weather. The parade of both active service personnel, Veterans and other groups was impressive to witness.
It gave me time to reflect on the service of my Grandfather, who served in the Royal Marines and my father in the Royal Navy.
This is a poignant reminder of what is going on in the world at the moment but for all our fallen heroes…. we will remember them."
Michelle Donelan the current Member of Parliment for Chippenham attended the national service held at the Cenotaph, after the event she shared her experience:
"Today I represented the government and Chippenham Constituency at the Cenotaph for the National Service of Remembrance. It was a moving service and made me think about not just those who have given their life for our freedoms but also their families and friends left behind."
